We achieved the basics of this look simply by layering together some black and yellow solid color party supplies. Yellow chevron napkins add a little contrast and also bring that striped, bee-like patterning into the mix. Get the party pack or incorporate items a la carte! For the table, a black tablecover with white dots and a strip of yellow down the center makes an easy anchor to tie this bee birthday together.

We also created some fun What The Buzz Printables you can use for your party. Dress up some cupcakes with a set of toothpick flags, or shake up those plain soda bottles (not literally!) with some quick wraps to match the theme.

Black fluffy tissue puff decorations make for a great accent, but be sure to mix it up with some yellow. Feel free to experiment with other looks, too: try working some paper lanterns or fans into your party. Just don’t forget about balloons! Solid yellow and black and white polka-dotted are excellent choices.

For something really special, transform a kitchen chair or two with some buzzy bee costume wings! After the party, save them for Halloween or just for a fun dress-up day down the road.

What could make a more perfect snack for this party than honeycomb-shaped cereal? Use some fun glassware to display a whole box’s worth alongside the rest of your sweets. Speaking of which, those mini beehive cakes are made with rolled fondant! Striped suckers make a great complement.

An assortment of white and yellow candies looks fantastic with this theme. Display taffy, gumballs, and Sixlets in clear containers decorated with bows of black and white gingham fabric for a cute and crafty feel. Long-stick lollipops can be stuck right into a jar of candy, too, and everything can be adorned with adorable printables. Table tents are always a nice touch, and tags go great with party favor boxes.

The “Bees” de résistance at this birthday party is the cake! To create this amazing beehive cake, just shape each of the three round tiers prior to assembly by removing some cake around the top outer edge. The rest is just yellow fondant and a small piece of black for the “entryway.” You might want to keep this cake inside – it might just fool real bees! Besides, you’d want to keep the bees away while you wash everything down with a cool pitcher of lemonade.

I'm happiest when I'm surrounded by color and cool patterns, and lots of choices in both! No girl party would be complete without balloons, patterned straws, and a bit of bling.
