Activities
Butterfly Wings
Supplies:
- White poster board
- Yarn
- Crayons
- Glue
- Glitter
- Gems
- Stickers
Get your guests into the butterfly spirit! Prior to the party cut white poster board into butterfly wing shapes. Take two wings and punch holes and them and run a long piece of yarn through the holes so the wings can be worn. Have a craft table set up with the pre-cut wings and supplies to decorate the wings. You’ll need crayons, glue, glitter, gems, and stickers. Once your guests arrive take them to the craft table and assist them with decorating their own butterfly wings to wear during the party.
Fluttering Butterfly Freeze Dance
Supplies:
- Wings (from the previous activity)
- CD player/stereo
- Party music
Once your guests have finished their wings it’s time to get them in butterfly motion! Designate an open space in the party area as the dance floor for a fun game of Fluttering Butterfly Freeze Dance! Gather everyone to the dance floor and instruct them to dance around flapping their wings once the music starts. But when the music stops they have to FREEZE right where they are. The butterfly that gets caught moving while the music is stopped is out. This will continue until there is only one butterfly left and the winner receives a prize.
Pass the Cocoon
Supplies:
- Tissue or wrapping paper
- CD player/stereo
- Party music
The perfect game where everyone is a winner! Prior to the party wrap up small toys in several layers of tissue or wrapping paper just like a cocoon. Have everyone sit in a circle and instruct them to pass the present when the music starts. Whoever is holding the present when the music stops gets to unwrap a layer. This continues until each guest has a gift.
Musical Flowers
Supplies:
- Enough chairs for each guest -1
- Coffee filters
- Tape
- CD player/stereo
- Party music
Have one less chair them there are players available for this game. Prior to the game you and your child can make flowers out of coffee filters. Paint the coffee filters, once they are dry scrunch them up and tape them to the chairs to make a garden. Arrange the chairs in a circle once you are ready to play. Be sure to leave enough space between each chair for walking. Turn on some fun party music, and instead of having the players simply walk around the outside of the circle have them flutter like butterflies. When the music stops the little butterflies race to sit on a flower. The player left without a flower leaves the game. You then remove one chair and repeat until there is only one player left. The winner receives a small prize.
