We used as goody bags for light items. I had no problem with ripping. They are slightly transparent.

I bought these for a birthday party and had various rocks as favors, and the bags did not hold up well at all. Several broke so luckily I had paper lunch bags as a backup. I have some leftover which I will maybe use at Christmastime for cookies or other lighter items. They did look nice, color is true to the picture but more transluscent.
